November 18, 2021 – Recently, the One Health Foundation (OHF) has joined hands with the Red Cross to implement a program to sponsor 1600 sets of life jackets for fishermen in Phu Yen province. The program was directly presented by the representative of former President Truong Tan Sang.

 

Since 9/11, there have been many heavy rains in Tay Hoa district, Phu Yen province, causing some villages in the locality to be severely affected by flooding.

 

Limited mobility, many students have to stop going to school, many houses are submerged in flood water. Some fishing boats were swept away by the flood, the functional forces are still trying their best to search and rescue.

November 3 afternoon – A fishing boat with 4 people was unfortunately swept away by flood. After spending 10 hours at sea, they were finally found by the rescue team. This is just a small statistic in the damage that marine fishermen are suffering.

 

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu The – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phu Yen province said: “Phu Yen is a province in the South Central Coast region, with a total natural area of ​​over 5,025 km², inhabited by people. 874,295 people, a coastline of 189 km. The province has 9 district-level administrative units, with 110 commune-level administrative units, of which there are 04 coastal districts, towns and cities, with about 4,000 fishing boats. fisheries and over 28,000 workers engaged in fishing at sea; is the cradle of tuna fishing.

 

Therefore, the donation of life jackets to fishermen is one of the most valuable practical actions in the Program to sponsor 15,000 sets of life jackets for poor and near-poor fishermen in 12 central provinces and cities.

 

On November 18, 2021 Representative of One Health Foundation – Mr. Nguyen Huynh Dang Khoa joined hands with the Red Cross Society and other donors to visit and survey the situation of districts and communes in Phu Yen province.

 

Following the program of sponsoring 1600 sets of life jackets for poor and near-poor people in Phu Yen on September 14, former President Truong Tan Sang will represent 155 sets of multi-purpose life jackets for fisherman in An Chan commune, Tuy An district.

Each set of life jackets is highly appreciated for its material, which is a versatile life jacket that can help fishermen float on the water for 8 days waiting for help.

 

In addition, the shirt is also equipped with many other tools such as: polyester life jacket, warm suit, plastic float, hat to cover head, face and ears, light shoes for underwater use, eyeglasses used to cover and protect eyes, rubber socks, cloth socks, sirens, hand-held glasses, rubber gloves, flashlights, 08 servings of dry food and plastic bags containing the product set with a tight zip, helping Fishermen can survive at sea for at least 8 days if there is a problem or natural disaster.

 

With the desire to contribute to encouraging poor and near-poor fishermen who have difficult circumstances to fish offshore in the central provinces with peace of mind to stick to the sea, overcome difficulties, rise up in life and protect the sovereignty of the land country. Representative of OHF Charitable Fund – Mr. Nguyen Huynh Dang Khoa and the Union have mobilized other sponsors to be able to support more fishermen in the future.
